OUR PROJECT CHALLENGES
Developing Chorum required overcoming complex hurdles to integrate real-time dynamics with heavy media capabilities.
Blending Social and Streaming
Problem:
Integrating live social feeds with a persistent, gapless music player across different screens without interruption.
Solution:
Custom-built Flutter state management (using Bloc/Riverpod patterns) to decouple the audio service from the UI, ensuring smooth transitions and background playback efficiency on both mobile operating systems.
Real-Time Performance & Scalability
Problem:
Handling simultaneous, high-frequency updates (likes, comments, chat messages, and track metadata) for thousands of concurrent users without sacrificing speed or incurring massive server costs.
Solution:
Implemented Firebase Firestore for its real-time database capabilities and leveraged Cloud Functions for all critical backend logic (like notification triggers and Cosign counts), ensuring serverless scalability.
Multi-Platform Media Handling
Problem:
Securely hosting, streaming, and managing user-uploaded MP3 files while maintaining compatibility with external APIs like Spotify.
Solution:
Utilized Firebase Storage for scalable, secure file hosting and developed a unified player service capable of switching seamlessly between Spotify API previews and native Chorum track streams.
